Week of January 22 - 26

We are so very excited for our field trip this week to see the play of The Lion the Which and the Wardrobe! Thank you to our chaperones for volunteering your time to our class.  Because of the time of the play (11:30) We will be eating a big snack at school around 9:30.  Please pack a LARGE snack for your students to eat at this time.  We will then eat lunch following the play at about 1:00.  Lunches must be packed in disposable bags and be entirely disposable after eating!  Water bottles must also be disposable. 

In addition to our field trip, we also have a full week of learning in 3B!

This week in Spalding we will add 21 new words to our Spalding notebooks!  We will have a spelling and phonogram test on Friday, January 26. On Monday we will also take our monthly Morrison McCall 50 test. This test is not taken for a grade and is only a means of measuring growth in students.

In math this week we will complete our math unit on Measurement.  We will have a test on Wednesday.  This also means that we are ready to begin our 3B math workbook. If it is not already in the classroom, please send it in by Thursday.

Language arts this week includes writing an opinion paragraph, learning to write topic and concluding sentences, and a poetry lesson on Stanza three of The Lake Isle of Innisfree. Poetry recitation will be on February 7.

This week in History we will be returning to our study of the Roman Empire.

Thank you for your support as we move to assigning typing homework once a week.  I know this is new and different, but we feel that it is invaluable for our students as we prepare for the AZ Merit test.
