Week of April 30 - May 4

As we approach the end of the year our days are full of excitement and anticipation. We are busy preparing for our Spring music concert with extra rehearsals. Scholars are also busy finalizing their art projects for our upcoming Art Walk. Additionally, we are busy learning in the classroom as we continue through our math, language arts, history and science curriculum. This is an exciting time of year to be sure!

This week we will continue on our journey through Pinocchio. The scholars have been delighted reading this book and we have held many fruitful discussions about virtue, growth, and wisdom through the characters of Pinocchio,, the Fox, the Cat, Geppetto, and the Blue Fairy. We will have a seminar discussion on Friday.

In math we have begun our unit on Math. With this unit I am opening up a class shop that the scholars will have the opportunity to buy items from with "coins" earned in class.

In language arts this week we are continuing our study of prepositions. I so enjoy the scholars enjoyment off grammar and intrigue of diagramming. I love grammar too!

In History we have begun studying Early Americans and the scholars have enjoyed discussions about the Native Americans who settled here in Arizona. We will have a quiz on Tuesday.

We continue our study of words in Spalding this week. We will add 32 words to our Spalding journals and will have a word and phonograph test on Friday.

In the midst of this end of year excitement we have also entered allergy season.... and have run out of tissues in the classroom! Would you please consider sending a box or two with your scholar this week? Thank you!
